![]() ![]() You don't need the signature Magus trick (Intensify Spell), but you can, thanks to these two traits, Empower your Shocking Grasps without changing the slot needed to cast them. Wayang Spellhunter/Metamagic Master (Shocking Grasp) ![]() Your traits are most probably already set, though: Human would probably prove the best choice of race - in the early levels, your bonus feat is a big boon. SRD WAYANG SPELLHUNTER FULLI consider Magus the best non-full caster in the game (and better than some full casters IMO). With 30 point buy, its going to be difficult to get it wrong. Kensai is really the only class that can pull of straight damage with a lot of competency but others have their shining points. Pick a theme, debuff, AoE battlefield Control, or straight damage. Your spells will define you (as well as your archetype). ![]() Feats do not matter that much (and I end up spending mine for Extra Arcana a good amount of the time). Now apart from the above, I will say that building a Magus is relatively simple. So you get two touches of Chill Touch, two main hand weapon attacks, and a big smile on your face if you hit both. This is why my favorite level 2 combo is going Chill Touch and swinging with the spell attack first (since you just cast it) and then use the second swing of your main hand to deliver the second touch. Using Spell Combat +Spell Strike with Shocking grasp gives you a normal swing on the first hand and a second sing with Shocking Grasp on your main hand weapon (because of Spell Strike). (why have a two bladed sword if you can swing with a main hand longsword twice?) This means using a "two bladed sword" is not only a little wonky, its extremely unnecessary because your spending a feat for something you can already do. You are already two weapon fighting, and essentially you can make two attacks with your main hand weapon. It is much easier to create a strong Magus using a 1 handed weapon of some kind (Black Blade mandates it, and Kensai becomes a powerhouse). As someone who has made more Magus characters than he would even care to admit, this is a difficult route. ![]()
